Is a MOOC a Textbook or a Course?

nitajo sumitted ago via http://blogs.edweek.org (Views: 11, Clicks: 4)

Justin Reich -- What exactly is a MOOC? Like most interesting things in this world, the term avoids simple definition. For instance, what constitutes a course? A particular body of knowledge to be delivered? Except maybe in the case of skill-based classes, like a writer's workshop. A start and end date? Except maybe in the case of self-paced, on-demand online courses. Interactions between students and instructors?

Cindy Long -- As the Common Core debate heats up, we’ve heard a lot from policy makers, politicians, and even TV talk show hosts about the challenges posed by the new standards and whether they’ll help or hurt education. With all the chatter, the voices of the professionals who are actually responsible for implementing the Common Core have been all but drowned out in the mainstream media.
