Kathy Cassidy -- Although we have not always been consistent users of our classroom Twitter account, my six-year old students have had some tremendous opportunities for learning through our use of this popular social network. In 2011, my students had heard about the floods in Brisbane, Australia from their parents and came to school talking about the video footage they had seen on television.

In Michigan, getting a hold of current and potential employees’ social media account information, just got a lot more difficult. The state has passed a law so citizens will be judged on skills and dedication to their work rather than their party pics or status updates.

Amy Erin Borovoy -- I think it's fair to say that Twitter can no longer be dismissed as a trivial passing fad. While some people certainly do tweet about what they're having for breakfast, teachers, administrators, and educational organizations use Twitter in a whole different way -- making smart use of those 140 characters to share resources, wisdom, and inspiration.

Justin Reich -- It's Connected Educator month here in the United States, which has me thinking about how we get more educators connected to one another. There are a number of sources of inspiration for Connected Educator month, but one important one is the National Education Technology Plan.

Fake Twitter accounts parody college presidents

nitajo sumitted ago via http://www.washingtonpost.com (Views: 108, Clicks: 4)

Mocking the university president has long been part of the college experience, especially on April Fools’ Day, when many student newspapers publish fake news stories, inflammatory headlines and doctored photographs. A generation ago, these humorous critiques reached only those who ventured onto campus to pick up a copy of the paper. Today, anyone can anonymously make such critiques online.

Teens migrating to Twitter _ sometimes for privacy

Teens don't tweet, will never tweet - too public, too many older users. Not cool. That's been the prediction for a while now, born of numbers showing that fewer than one in 10 teens were using Twitter early on. But then their parents, grandparents, neighbors, parents' friends and anyone in-between started friending them on Facebook, the social networking site of choice for many — and a curious thing began to happen.
