West Oakland elementary school uses technology to help kids read

The computer program starts with a diagnostic test and tailors the exercises to strengthen each student's weak points, such as phonetic sounds or vocabulary. The children log in wherever they are — at school, at the library or at home, if they have Internet access — and pick up where they left off.
